2. Clingmans Dome
As the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, it’s hard to find a view much better than the one you’ll find at Clingmans Dome! The Clingmans Dome Observation Tower offers 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains, allowing you to take in the lush red, orange, and yellow hues that sweep across the mountains in the fall. On clear days, the views can stretch for more than 100 miles, allowing you to truly bask in the beauty of the fall colors in the Smoky Mountains! During the fall, you can access Clingmans Dome either by car along Clingmans Dome Road, or by hiking the nearby trail.
3. Newfound Gap Road
If you’re looking to take in the fall colors in the Smoky Mountains from the comfort of your vehicle, there aren’t many spots better to do it than by driving along Newfound Gap Road. Featuring plenty of scenic overlooks and sweeping mountain views, you’ll have a great time alternating between driving and stopping to admire the sights. Plus, you can visit interesting landmarks along the way, like the Rockefeller Memorial, located where President Franklin D. Roosevelt first dedicated the Great Smoky Mountains National Park!
4. Gatlinburg Space Needle
Another great spot to see the fall colors in the Smoky Mountains is actually located right in the heart of Gatlinburg. The Gatlinburg Space Needle stands at over 400 feet tall and allows visitors to take in stunning 360-degree views of the mountains surrounding the city. For unobstructed views located right near lots of top attractions, it’s hard to pick a better option than the Gatlinburg Space Needle!
